Class Descriptions

Basic Yoga

Basic Yoga is suitable for all levels of interest and ability. Classes consist of deep breathing, warm up exercises, and basic yoga postures held for brief periods of time. Also includes deep relaxation.

Intermediate Yoga

Yoga for people who have some experience with the basic yoga postures. Classes go deeper into the postures, holding them for longer periods of time, and include some of the more difficult postures, such as shoulder stands. Also, the class touches upon some of the spiritual tenets of yoga philosophy.

Ananda Yoga

The same as basic yoga, but with energization exercises at the start, affirmations with the postures and an optional 10 - 15 minutes of meditation at the end of the class, following deep relaxation.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

A powerful and dynamic system that combines asana, pranayama and meditation. Routine consists of a series of yoga postures that flow from one to the other.

Easy Does It Yoga

An extra gentle form of yoga using chairs, for people with special needs. Please call Susan at (530)878-7065 if you are interested.

Mommy and Me/Prenatal Yoga

Relaxing stretching exercises, gentle yoga (including restorative) postures, and deep breathing for the mommies (and mommies in waiting); infant massage and baby exercises for the newborns. A truely fun and sweet time for all!

Children's Yoga

A chance for children, ages 6-12, to get in touch with their inner selves, develop focus, and learn to be still through deep breathing, yoga postures, meditation, and inspirational story telling. Please call Susan at (530)878-7065 if you are interested.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga classes are designed to help relieve the effects of chronic stress. The restorative yoga is based on postures described in the yoga book Relax & Renew by Judith Lasater, Ph.D. All of the postures are done with props (bolsters, straps, blankets, blocks & sandbags). Through the use of props, the student is able to totally relax in a completely supportive environment.

The teacher helps the students get set up on the props; then the students settle in and relax. Each pose is held for up to 15 minutes. During these periods of deep relaxation, the student is healed and nurtured from within, and energy is increased and balanced.

Restorative yoga classes are offered frequently during the holiday season.
